The Provision Shop @ Everton

The cafe scene in Singapore is crazily happening, cafes are sprouting out like daisies! and its making choosing the ideal brunch place a hell lot tougher.

M & myself wanted to check out Grin Affairs at Everton Park, however we didn't realise that it closes on sundays :( And so was Batterworks, Audacious Cakery and Just Want Coffee. Hence, when we were pretty delighted to find The Provision Shop opened for business!

The Provision Shop was really small, I reckon they could only house less than 25 pax per seating. What amazed me was their really puny kitchen/ bar counter.; its a wonder how they managed to work their way around. The cafe wasn't that packed as we were there around 2+ but we weren't allowed to choose our seats.

We wanted only desserts and so we settled for their Cherry Almond Cake and Cheese Cake. The Cherry Almond Cake was served warm. I wasn't sure whether its the temperature of the cake or the fact that it was smothered with Cherry sauce, the cake was alittle mushy and kueh like. Nothing irks me more than kueh like cake. I disliked the sauce as well as it was too sour for my liking.

Cherry Almond Cake @ $6.50
I was hoping the Cheese Cake would have been better, albeit it was rather disappointing as well. I don't really consider myself as a cheesecake connoisseur, especially since the best cheesecake I've tasted was from Secret Recipe (Espresso Cheesecake), however TPS's cheesecake was really dry and grainy. The crust was also pretty soggy.

Cheese Cake @ $6.50
Verdict:

Food: I've yet to try their mains but their desserts were pretty horrid
Value: I guess $6.50 for a cake is pretty decent however I would have been more willing to pay $650 for a carrot cake from Cedele :)
Service: Rather tardy albeit not expecting much from such an establishment.
