Jangwon Korean Restaurant

Located diagonally across my favourite Korean restaurant lies Jangwon, another Korean Family Restaurant. I wanted to head back to Togi with the Inferno gang initially but the queue on a Friday night was really unbearable. Surprisingly, there wasn't any queue at Jangwon. On hind sight, I know why...

Due to its close proximity, one cant help but to compare Jangwon with Togi. Banchan at Jangwon wasn't anything special; nonetheless Togi's didn't blow my mind out either.

Banchan- a very normal fare
We ordered Kimchi Pancake and was really disappointed at the size; it was almost 30% smaller than the ones we had at Togi. Portions aside,t he taste was far inferior; it was bland and not as crispy as Togi's. (it's not until Ive been to Korea did I realise authentic Jeon aka Pancake is not suppose to be that crispy).

Our next dish was the pork bulgogi which was pretty good but really small in portion as well. The pork was tender and flavourful with a spicy kick at the end. I cannot remember the pricing of the dish but I do remember how famished we  still were after the entire meal.

Besides the jeon and bulgogi, we had the Bimbimbap, Cold Noodles and Kimchi soup. None of which left a lasting impression. There were quite a number of good reviews n Jangwon but it was dated way back; Jangwon might have been stellar then but it sure isn't half as good now.

Verdict:
Food: Decent but really small in portion. Not worth the price it is tagged to.
Service: Warm and Amiable, albeit showed displease when we wanted to refill our Banchan for the 3rd time.
Ambience: Cosy and comfortable.
