Birthday Month @ TCC

The fams celebrated my bdae earlier as mumsy and dad are heading to US of the A for a long holiday. For those who don't know, TCC offers 50% off for members' 1st meal on their birthday month hence without fail, we would have a meal or 2 at TCC every May.

We were surprised to see that TCC has changed their menu COMPLETELY. Alright, "completely" would be exaggerating but still, about 80% of the good stuff were gone :( Honestly, we were all gaming for the Salmon Mentaiko or the Wafu Beef Spaghetti but those were removed. Oh and I love their black sesame cream cheese or marble cheese coffee frappe which were also gone. Chocolate stout and spicy chicken spaghetti vanished :(( So.. we kinda ordered those which were left behind. Honestly, the entire new menu was a huge disappointment.

First up, the egg drop spaghetti bolognese. Frankly, it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. It tasted like something my mum could whip up in a jiffy.

Daddy had the Beef Striploin with red wine sauce. This dish was one of the better ones we tried that night. The beef was tender and succulent and I absolutely loved the seaweed mashed potato! I could have a entire pot of it. Price wise,

Jie has the Salmon Sandwich which was not too bad, Salmon was really salty but I guess all smoked salmon are always salty. The sandwich is simple, decent
but not quite worth the price tagged to it.

The worst dish of all would have to be the soft shell black pepper spaghetti. Shuaxy had this and he couldn't stomach 3/4 of it despite being famished. He complained it was too spicy and had this really bitter aftertaste, I reckon it's due to the herbs they used. Mum took over and had an even longer list of complains lol. But the main ones were that the oil used to deep fry the crab was unfresh and the sauce was way too peppery.

Mum had the Aglio Olio which is TCC's star dish. I've tried this before but its not like super duper yummy or to die for. In fact, there were just 2 flavours to their Aglio Olio: Salty and Spicy. I must say though, their prawns and scallops were pretty good.

Afraid both shuaxy and dad wldn't be filled, we ordered another pasta to share. The Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Spaghetti was really bad. It wasn't creamy and had chunks of processed chicken cubes which was really bad. The pasta was really bland too.

Since mains were a bummer, I thought having more desserts might make me happier. It's my birthday celebration you know.. :D

I was soooooo happy we got this! This is indeed the best dessert a coffee+ chocolate lover can have! The dessert comprises of a semi-frozen coffee mousse on top of a coffee almond cake base and topped with crunchy chocolate crumble. I thought the coffee semi-fredo was amazingly good. It was really rich but yet balanced by the sharp bitterness of the fine coffee granules. The coffee-almond cake tasted more like a dense fudgey coffee brownie instead of a cake. Best combo ever I must say!

Having tried the chocolate confession and devil chocolate cake, we settled for the Cocoa L'amore this time round. Being not a great fan of mousse, I didn't quite like this cake but I guess if you are a mousse kinda person, this would be perfect for your palate.

Thank God they didn't get rid of this! As you know, I absolutely love black sesame and this black sesame cheesecake is really really delicious! It doesn't really taste a hell lot like black sesame as it has loads of peanut nibs all over the cake. So for those who are afraid it will taste über black sesame-ish.. Dont be! It's really nutty-liously good!

TCC's new menu was really bad. They got rid of our favourite dishes and added new ones which pretty much sucked. I doubt we will be dining at TCC for their mains (even with the 50% discount) probably head back for their desserts only.
