My supplier was raving about Alexis's Cakes and how good they are. So did they live up to the hype? In my humble opinion, there were a couple of hits and misses.
My cuzzie was a dear and brought us there during CNY. We went to the Bangsar outlet and I was wondeirng to myself...why didn't he bring me to Bangsar earlier?!? I love Bangsar! its like Singapore's Arab street and Dempsey combined!
Dad was alil hungry and so he shared a chicken sandwich with JW. They both liked the sandwich, fresh simple but kindly replicable at home.
I had the Mocha with an ice cream. I didn't expect it to have sugar added and was dying from the overwhelming sweetness. Thankfully the staff was willing to switch the drink, albeit he wasn't too happy about it. My "amended" drink tasted very much diluted *i wonder why*. Then again, and giving them the benefit of a doubt, their coffee is quite bland. Sis ordered the latte which is also very watered down.
Coffee issues aside, cakes were what we came for! JW ordered 4 cakes in total (each costing an average of RM 15). Alexis's Tiramisu was an interesting rendition of the classic italian dish. As a matter of fact, it didn't taste like Tiramisu at all! It felt more like a cream covered light coffee chiffon cake. The cake was interestingly unique/ uniquely interesting. Covered with sugar bits & nuts and served with a dollop of strawberry sauce, I thought the cake stood out from the rest. Sadly, there weren't any Cognac taste though...

Last but not least, the chocolate mousse cake. Nice contrast of layers though I would prefer it to be more chocolatey. I also thought a nice crunchy base at the bottom would totally give this cake an uplift.
So there you have it! Some hits albeit more misses at Alexis cafe. I would return for their other cheesecake, imma still gonna give them a chance for redemption as the ambience is great and service is adequate.
