My Birthday 2013 I: Spathe Public House

I'm such a lazy blogger, I swear. Bing celebrated my birthday with me at Spathe Public House; yes you heard it right...birthday?! I know I know, thats like almost 4 months back and I'm only blogging about it now! Nonetheless, trust me when I say I've got an excellent memory, especially when it comes to food :D

Spathe Public House is a quaint lil hideout at Mohammad Sultan Road. It's those kinda indie cafe along side the road which makes parking a hella difficult.

We ordered the Garden Pimms which was pretty refreshing. It was my first time having Pimms thus I'm unable to comment much but Bing said it's pretty close to those he had in London.

I had the Eggs Royale which was basically poached eggs with Salmon drenched in Hollandaise Sauce. I thought the Eggs Royale was pretty decent. Eggs were done beautifully, hollandaise was thick and creamy but still not as fantastic as Group Therapy's.

Bing had the Classic Croque Madame which was way better than the one I had at Tiong Bahru Bakery. I was really crispy and rich, only problem is.. I found it way too salty. I reckon it would have been nice if they served some wild rockets or baby spinach on the side to complement the sharpness of all those cheese. The Garlic Fries were pretty yummy too, crispy and not too garlicky.

The portions werent that big. Many actually blogged about how Spathe is more communal dining where one gets to embrace the warmth of sharing food yada yada.. The "sharing" prob only applies to those mammoth signature dishes. Hence, we got ourselves waffles for dessert! The waffles were ok not mind blowingly good nonetheless it was still yummy; especially with the blueberry ice cream. No waffles could ever beat those from Comstock Hall in Minnesota.. not yet at least.
