Had Mellben Seafood with colleagues almost 2 months ago, all in the name of clearing the photos in my Iphone :)

Crab Bee Hoon |
My colleagues are crazy over crab and so we ordered 2 crab dishes: Mellben Crab Bee Hoon and the Chilli Crab. Honestly, I preferred the latter. I thought the crab Bee Hoon was kinda bland; all I tasted was milk and pepper. Honestly, I prefer Ocean Kingdom Seafood's signature Crab Bee Hoon instead; though their rendition involved stir fried thin Bee Hoon.

The Chilli Crab tasted just like Jumbo's, nothing too special or mind blowing. I love the golden crispy man tou, although they can be found in almost any Chilli Crab Restaurant.
There were only 4 of us (mind you, all female) but we ordered a ton of food. The Bamboo Clams were pretty good, garlic-gy and fresh.

The playboy chicken, unique as it sounds, tasted like those honey lemon Thai style chicken. The chicken was fried till crispy and complemented the sweet sour spicy sauce really well. If the chicken was grilled, I would have totally ate more than 1 piece.

The stir fried Potato Leaves were pretty good as well! Despite being a tad too oily, the veggie was tasty and really packed a punch.

Lastly, we had the Mongolian Pork Rib, which was da bomb! The pork ribs were uber tender and meaty, nothing irks me more than fatty pork ribs. The sticky peppery sauce was soooo delectable, I can totally imagine myself eating almost anything with a bowl of that gravy.

In short, I thought it was kinda perplexing as Mellben Seafood's crab wasn't the star of the night (though I know many would beg to differ). Although Mellben Seafood's crab didn't shine through, I thought their other Tse Char dishes were pretty good! Thank God for diversification, I must say.
