Podi- The Food Orchard

I first read about Podi @ http://foodmakespeoplehappy.blogspot.sg/2012/09/new-podi-food-orchard.html and thought of giving them a try since we were relatively near Paragon.

Podi is a open cafe concept under the umbrella of Cedele Bakery Depot's, serving cafe style food as well as all sorts of mouth watering desserts, or so I thought.

After browsing for abit, we settled for the Rum Chocolate Cake and the Chocolate Whoopie Pie. The Whoopie Pie might just be the biggest you've seen albeit do not be fooled cos size isn't correlated to taste. Both JY and myself have not tasted a Whoopie Pie before but I'm pretty sure a Whoopie Pie is suppose to be softer than the one we had. Both the top and the base tasted like a dense cookie: sorta like "lou fong" chocolate biscuit.

The cream filling didn't quite help either. The waiter gave me a wrong impression when he said "Cream Cheese" filling. I thought it tasted more like cocoa powder + buttercream. Whoops, the pie didn't quite hit the mark.

Whoopie Pie @ $8

According to the same waiter, the Chocolate Rum & Raisin Cake was their best seller. I thought the Chocolate R&R Cake was pretty decent albeit a tad dry. I liked the infusion of both Rum and Raisins and a slightly moister sponge cake would have sealed the deal.

Chocolate Rum & Raisin Cake @ $12
In short, Podi is kind pricey and didn't quite deliver. It might have been the choice of cakes but then again pretty much every cake rocks, at Cedele's.
