About slightly less than a year ago, I was introduced to Mandalay food by a friend's friend and.... I quite liked it! Liked it so much so as to drag my mum there last weekend. Sadly, things have changed, no its not you, its me...
Located at the basement of Excelsior Shopping Centre, Mandalay Style is a tiny Burmese eatery selling traditional Burmese food. They use to have these really tiny stools and short tables but looks like they have outgrown tiny furnitures.
I ordered the Mandalay Mee Shay which is basically rice noodles, cooked in stock and tossed with fermented black beans and this gooey starchy sauce. The noodles were topped with coriander, minimal chicken, bean sprouts and onions. At $4.50, this noodle dish was way overpriced. I thought they tasted like our beef noodles but with chicken stock instead. I was also kinda disappointed with the noodles as it tasted like chu bee hoon instead of a thicker pho, which was kinda what I expected. In short, I would have traded this for a bowl of fish soup bee hoon.

I vaguely remembered having a salad with some ambiguous pig parts and so I ordered the mix meat salad. I thought the salad was pretty tasty; sweet, salty, tangy all in 1 bite! The mixed meat salad had quite a fair bit of meat and pig parts but I thought $10 was kinda steep.
