Kazokutei @ Bishan

Bishan is like my second home and I was getting kinda sick of the food there but when Mum suggested having Kazokutei for lunch, I quickly obliged. I've always wanted to try Kazokutei but never had the guts to do so. Why, you know...the feeling of wanting to eat something you think you'll enjoy after a long day's work and not wanting to be disappointed, returning home hungry and sulky. So yes I was kinda secretly happy mum suggested that place.

Kazokutei's menu is downright complex man. There were almost 30 different sets to choose from, some of which have hidden conditions which made it the selection process more frustrating. After about 15 minutes of bickering, mum settled for the Seafood Cream Udon while Bro and myself ordered a set.

Mum's Seafood Cream Udon was pretty good albeit one might get too jelak after a few spoonfuls. I thought the broth was extremely creamy with a subtle seafood flavour and paired really well with the chewy udon. At $13, I must say the portion was decent albeit smaller than those offered at Yomenya Goemon.

I had the Tom Yum Seafood Set which includes a Tom Yum Seafood Broth, a small bowl of Udon, Fried Chicken and 3 pieces of mini sushi. I absolutely love the Tom Yum Broth! Though not authentic, I like how the Tom Yum is kinda creamy and sweet. Kazokutei is known for their Udon and boy did they deliver. I thought the Udon had an awesome texture and blended really well with the broth. The mini sushi were mediocre, a tad too small for me to judge. For $15.90, I thought this set was pretty value worthy.

Shuaxy had a Udon & Chicken Don Set which comprised of a bowl of plain udon and a bowl of Chicken & Egg don. Honestly, his set looked kinda pathetic but he claimed his set was pretty satisfying.

Overall, I thought Kazokutei is worth another visit. I would definitely visit them during lunch time though as they have some pretty value for money lunch sets.
