Flat Bread in Da House

Baked these a couple of weeks ago for baking class. Now that we are into our bread making module, there is a copious amount of bread in the house! We began the class with the Pita Bread which is a round pocket bread widely consumed in Mediterranean cuisine. The Pita Bread is a slightly leavened bread which takes less than 2 mins to bake, under an extremely high heat. The high heat causes the dough to puff up dramatically, resulting in a "pocket" when cooled as the layers of dough separate.

Pita Bread

The Pita Bread is usually used as wraps or for dipping with hummus/ sauces. Honestly, it taste really bad when eaten plain as it is rather bland and flour-y.

Ciabatta was next. The Ciabatta is an elongated bread with a soft porous texture, it originated from Italy in 1982 but is now widely known throughout USA, UK and even Singapore. The Ciabatta is composed of more ingredients and required a longer resting and baking time, as compared to the Pita Bread.

Mum loved the Ciabatta Bread. She loved how it is of an excellent sandwich size, making it easy for her to slice into half and stuff.

Lastly, we made the Focaccia Bread which is the highlight of the class. Focaccia is a flat italian bread which has a similar texture to a pizza. It is usually seasoned with olive oil and herbs and taste soooo good, you can eat it by itself!  Shuaxy ate like 2 and said it tasted like pizza lol.

Focaccia Bread
My house is officially bread overloaded, so much so it can last me for all 3 meals for 3 weeks. So do give a shout out if you want free bread :)
