Jie and I dined at Covelli last weekend and there were some hits and misses. I was dying for some pizza and so I ordered the Covelli Supreme Pizza which was huge! The thin crust pizza was crispy but the flavours didn't quite match up to its lovely crust. I thought the tuna was nice but tasted like those straight out of the can. This is the sort of pizza you can whip up at home with pure diligence and some initiative (clearly Im lacking in both). The pizza definitely looked more promising than it tasted.

Jie had the Carbonara which was über creamy but really salty. I think they didn't factor in the saltiness of the cured bacon and it seemed like they went alil heavy handed with the salt. Jie couldn't tahan and asked to water it down. As Covelli had an open kitchen concept, we were able to see the reaction of the chefs upon the return of our dishes. Obviously no one is happy when their dishes get returned and so we sort of had to endure their grumpy expressions while crossing our fingers and hoping they wouldn't add extra "ingredients". We really hope we got a new dish (as we saw the chefs sticking their fingers into the dish and tasting the noodles); however it seemed to be almost impossible for them to churn out another carbonara that quickly, especially so when they took close to 20 mins to prepare the initial carbonara.
In any case, the 2nd attempt wasn't exactly any better. The sauce was more runny (clearly they watered it down) but the dish was still kinda salty; I blame the bacon this time round.

I got alittle tired of eating my pizza after awhile and begged Jie to share a dessert with me. I wanted to order the molten chocolate lava cake but the thought of waiting again (we waited a total of 30 minutes- 25 mins for the mains and another 5 mins for the watered down carbonara) was simply unbearable. Jie suggested having the chocolate royale cake instead which was essentially a crumbly short crust with chocolate ganache. I thought the name of this dessert was rather deceiving as it doesn't look like nor taste like a cake. Nonetheless, it didnt suck but it didn't wow either. For a cheaper price, we could have gone for Han's Chocolate Tart or Truff's, which has the mother of all chocolate tarts.
