JI De Chi- Yummy Asian Dessert

My bro is a dork but he was actually the first person who told me about Ji De Chi *surprise surprise *. Jie and I were shopping at Bugis last weekend and so we ended up at Ji De Chi @ Liang Seah Street. Honestly, that was the first time at Liang Seah Street and I was really surprised to see 2 rows filled with eateries and hungry diners.

It as a hot day and I knew I needed an ice cold dessert; I ordered the Durian Flavoured Snowy Ice and I loved every bit of it! The ice shavings were aw-so creamy and it literally melts in your mouth. I also liked how it really tasted like durian instead of consisting only durian essence. I thought the pairing of toppings was spectacular; the pomelo brought about an excellent bitter contrast and the yoghurt balls gave a nice sour tang to the whole dessert..delicious!

I thought Jie's Mango Sago was passable; frankly I preferred Swee Choon's which was creamier and had a more pleasant mango taste. Ji De Chi's mango was super ripe and had this "chow seng" taste.

Revisited Ji De Chi with E and I decided to give the Black Sesame Flavour a try. When it arrived, I thought it was bound to be tooth-achingly sweet. On the contrary, the Black Sesame drizzle was thick and luscious which helped brought out the black sesame flavour. The ice shavings were super creamy and went really well with the sweet red beans. If you're like me and hate overly sweetened red beans, fret not! as the red beans served had just the right amount of sweetness and were delectable. I guess my only qualm would be the Nata de Coco and the yoghurt balls. Don't get me wrong, I love both Nata de Coco and Yoghurt Balls but it just doesn't go with the rich and creamy black sesame.

E had Mango Passionfruit Snowy Ice and I thought it was pretty tasty as well. The Passionfruit balls were nice and squirt-y and I thought the Nata de Coco brought about great textures to the dessert.

Ji De Chi is definitely my go to place for Snowy Ice Shavings! I guess I would have to try Ah Chew's dessert and Dessert First before coming up with my favourite but for now, Ji De Chi has a place in my heart, or should we say stomach?
