Kith @ Park Mall

It's a pity cafes close pretty early, it would be nice to have a place to chill, especially after a long day @ work. I was quite surprise Kith @ Park Mall opens till 10pm and so I enthusiastically jio-ed my friend for dinner there.

Kith @ Park Mall
Located just on the left of the main entrance to Park mall, Kith serves a range of pastas and sandwiches for dinner. I chose the Grilled Chicken Sandwich while my companion had the Vongole Linguine. We had to place our orders at the counter and guess who came back with a plate of carrot cake? The carrot cake came with a scoop of ice cream. I was surprised they served the carrot cake first; I would usually have dessert before a meal but that was just one of those "I'm gonna have a normal dinner" day.

The food was served not long after. My sandwich looked really nice; kudos to them for making the effort to beautify their dishes. Unfortunately, the dish looked better than it tasted. The grilled chicken was passable, nothing really fantastic to scream about. I like the crustiness of the bread was but it was way too dry for my liking; I do believe crustiness and moistness aren't mutually exclusive. I guess the only thing I liked about my sandwich was the tortilla chips which came with my sandwich; nice and crispy without any sense of grease.

My friend had the Vongole which looked pretty good as well. I had a taste of it and I thought it was incredibly oily; so much so it sorta taste like Aglio E Oilo. I've hardly heard anyone complaining about having loads of ingredients in their dishes, however my friend commented there were endless clams in his Vongole, so much so his getting tired of eating them. I glanced at his plate and there really were a hell lot of clams, strangely there were only a few shells..Ta Dah Dum (*dramatic tune) go figure.

Vongole Linguine
Having had a mediocre dinner, I was hoping dessert would salvage this lovely looking cafe. The Carrot Cake was once again dished out, however the ice cream was missing this time round. Not wanting to seem like a prick, I did not pursue the matter and tucked into the Carrot Cake. As the fork plunged into the thick layer of cream cheese, I immediately knew this would be a tough carrot cake to eat (both figuratively and literally). The frosting was really stiff, hard and crusty (you can feel the sugar bits), more of an icing than a cream cheese frosting. Furthermore, it was so tooth achingly sweet, I couldn't bare to take another bite. The carrot cake itself was really dry and tasted almost like a carrot spice bread. Sad to say, this cake is the worse carrot cake I've eaten.

Carrot cake.
It's a pity Kith's food did not deliver as I would love to come back and soak up its chic yet homely ambience. I might just come back for a drink or 2... when these bad food memories dissipate.
