t's been awhile since we caught up with Aunt and her family. We met for dinner at Imperial Court which is located at level 4 Yio Chu Kang Grassroots club. Imperial Court aka Imperial Court Shark's Fin Restaurant had this Chinese wedding banquet ambience, you'll know what I mean when you've dine there. (pardon the blur pix, pics were taken at a frenzy)

We were, as usual, fashionably late and Aunt took the liberty of ordering. The first dish to arrive was the Peking Duck. I thought the skin was crispy and nice, together with some awesome sweet sauce this dish was pretty good; however I must say I ain't a connoisseur of Peking ducks.

Our vegetable dish was a Xiao Bai Cai poached with Shark Fin Bone Stock. I thought the vegetables were normal; the Shark Fin stock tasted like flavoured corn starch solution and tasted nothing like Shark Fin.

The dishes just kept coming and the next item served was Hot Plate Bean curd. I loved how the bean curd was nicely pan fried on the outside but soft and silky in the inside. It was also pretty clever of them to have a layer of omelette at the bottom, nothing can be better than egg + beancurd!

The next item was the star of the meal. The cereal prawn was extraordinarily yummy; crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside, even a non-prawn fan like me would love it. The cereals were crispy and fragrant and the prawns were über fresh.

Prawn with Cereals @ $40 |
I've always wondered why Chinese dinner ends the meals with the Carbohydrates and mum's answer was that the last dish is to ensure everybody is full, I wonder how true that is though...The noodles served was part of the Peking Duck dish and frankly it was pretty nice, the noodles that is. The duck was rather dry, slightly on the over cook side; the saving grace was the nice slurpy chewy noodles. It was nicely flavoured and tasted like a cross breed of the yellow noodles found in Lor Mee and Kway Teow.

I enjoyed the food at Imperial Court however the dishes are kinda pricey. Imperial Court would be one of those restaurants which I would visit when a special occasion calls for it.
P.S the miscellaneous charges are like $20.70, that includes wet tissue, tea, peanuts and chilli! OMG...talk about extortion
