Who Knew You Can Blow Sugar?

Apart from Marzipan moulding, we also did some blowing of sugar last Saturday. Yes! you heard me right, blowing of sugar. Remember the candy making the other day? Well, those candies were reheated,   temperature homogenized, stretched and blown into lovely sugar structures e.g. apples/ pears/ strawberry etc.

Blowing sugar is no mean feat for the sugar might just burst right in your face. It was also extremely tedious to reheat, homogenize the temperature of the sugar and finally stretching the sugar to get the shine; I suddenly found myself saluting to those men working at candy shop, stretching the sugar and entertaining the crowd.

Working under UV light, cracked sugar and failed apple aka Pomegranate
I had my go at it and I ended up with a pomegranate instead as I forgot to push the ends of the sugar apple inwards. Blowing sugar is indeed an interesting sight, for how many have actually seen one blowing balloons of sugar. Interesting but dangerous, please do not try this at home.
