Smoulder- Bite Size Indeed

Tata and I went on a date,
We met in JC and that's call fate.
But only recently did I realise,
she's a dessert maniac and so was I.
Hence, we went to smolder that evening,
to check out some lava cakes in the makin.
Dinner was at Rotisserie as it was nearby,
had some sides with awesome chicken thigh.
After which, we walked and walked till we reached Chinatown,
greedy me mentioned "there's this dessert place just a block down!"
So we had more desserts, this time Asian,
Full to the max but it was a happy occasion.
Finally it was time to bid goodbye,
Till then my friend, let's meet up next time for some pies!

Wad up?! Poet in the making eh? lol pardon me I was bored. Anyway that's pretty much what we did last date. Now onto our findings; we had a hard time locating Smolder as we thought China Square Food Centre was at China Square Central Shopping Centre =X. After 15 minutes of being lost, we finally reach Smolder and was flabberghasted to see that they meant what they said: Bite Size Pleasures.
Gal: "Hi."
Me: "Hi. (glancing at the display counter and thinking: wth?!? so small!?!?)
Gal: " These are our mini lava cakes."
Me: (Chey, phew!) "Oh where are the normal sized ones?"
Gal: (looking confused) "Eh.. this is the only size we have."
Me: LOL *Facepalm

Pictures lie! I was reading up on the various food reviews of Smoulder and none of the pictures taken did justice, to the size I meant. Don't believe me? Let me put things into perspective; even an average egg was slightly taller than the mini lava cakes. At $3.90, this is definitely a "cough blood" dessert.

You'll thank me for this picture
Fortunately, there was an ongoing promotion: Buy 9 lava cakes for $20, of which 1 flavour has to be the hazelnut chocolate flavour. Tata and myself pounced on the deal and bought 9 to share. We decided to bring 4 home and share the hazelnut chocolate cake on the spot. Size and money matters aside, this lava cake is really molten inside and erupted upon slicing. Out of the four flavours I picked, the white chocolate pistachio and milk chocolate mocha really stood out.

The white chocolate pistachio was really nutty; great combination of flavours I must say. I was pretty skeptical about choosing white chocolate as it's almost always too sweet but this wasn't anywhere close to what I imagined it to be.

White Chocolate Pistachio

The mocha was also really good as the coffee flavour was aromatic and strong. The best part about Smoulder's cakes is that they aren't too sweet.

Milk Chocolate Mocha

In case you're wondering how the others fair, the intense dark chocolate was average, just like any other dark chocolate molten cake. As for the Milk Chocolate Hazelnut, it tasted really good, adequate hazelnut flavour and the nuts on top gave the cake a nice crunch.

I applaud Smoulder for their creativity and the variety of flavours however I seriously wouldn't pay $3.90 for a cake that I could easily pop into my mouth, in a second.
