I don't know whether this happens to you guys but I always have massive cravings for sweet stuff whenever I catch a flu. I believe it's due to the fact that I can't seem to taste anything other than really sweet stuff. Hence, I jio-ed Lil Wan for ice cream buffet, just cos she mentioned "I love ice cream". I pretty sure her love does not justify her crazy friend gobbling down scoops and scoops of ice cream. I was here with my family in 2008 and 2010, oh my how time flies.
I totally forgot it was a public holiday the next day and so we had to join the long queue :( thankfully we only needed 2 seats and were shown to our seats in no time. We started with the cakes first. From what I recalled, the cakes were pretty average. Nonetheless, since its lil wan's first time we had to try all of them. I was pleasantly surprised by how moist the carrot cake was; although it would have been better if the frosting is layered within the cake itself. The cookies and cream cheesecake was not too bad albeit a little to warm for my liking. The New York cheesecake was average, nothing great. Moving on to the less satisfying desserts; the brownies were way too dry, almost like a pound cake, the tarts were either too bland or too sweet. Lastly, the chocolate peanut butter tart was too dry; I thought the combination of the chocolate and peanut butter was nice though.

I wasn't very disappointed with the cakes as I pretty much expected them to be bleah; more importantly, I was here to eat their ice cream :) My first round of ice cream extravangaza comprised of their gelato: Black Sesame & Peanut Butter, Durian, Bitter chocolate, Caramel & Coffee and Hazelnut. The Black Sesame & Peanut Butter was a nice combination and reminded me of those yuan yang paste (chinese mixed dessert paste). Their Bitter Sweet Chocolate was average; nothing beats Sticky Chewy Chocolate. I Their Durian is da bomb and has always been da bomb! I thought the Caramel & Coffee was incredibly GAO, nice balance of bitter sweet. I didn't quite like the Hazelnut though as it was way too sweet for my liking.

Ice Cream Round 1 |
Ice cream round 2 start! *Ting Ting* I moved on to their ice cream: Sticky Chewy Chocolate, Pistachio Gelato, Mocha Almond Fudge, Green tea and Macadamia Nut. Lil wan commented that all round 2's bowl, look almost like round 1 lol, I reckon its the pistachio and almond toppings :) I really can't remember when I started loving pistachio flavoured stuff; Swensen's Pistachio Gelato was awesome! super nutty and doesn't have that typical fake nut taste. Their green tea is one of the better green tea ice cream I've tasted as it doesn't taste fake (you'll know what I mean if you swallow Phoon Huat's green tea powder). The Mocha Almond Fudge was really good too! Love the almonds amidst the strong coffee flavour. Sticky chewy chocolate is legendary, no need for critique. Macadamia Nut was so so only, not really a vanilla base fan.

Ice Cream Round 2 |
Arghh wrong strategy once again; I should have eaten ice cream with the waffles first as the waffles were beyond goooood!! It was a tad too hard but I loved it cos its hard & crispy enough and complemented ice cream really well! (u know how some waffles turn soggy when in contact with ice cream?) Paired with the quartered waffles were scoops of Mocha Almond fudge and Sinfully Mud Pie. Initially, I thought the Sinfully Mud Pie would be overwhelming sweet. To the contrary, the SMP had a bitter touch to it and could very well hold a candle to Sticky Chewy Chocolate (Omg, personification of ice cream flavours?! I think my love for ice cream is driving me nuts) I tried to be all artsy fartsy and decorated my waffles with a kit kat :)

Ice Cream Round 3- starting to show signs of being full |
Ice cream queen ain't gonna stop at only 1 serving of waffles; I might get dethroned. No more fooling around, it was time to have my favourites. I had my 2nd waffles with SCC and Pistachio gelato. YUMSSS.

Ice Cream Round 4- Full is an understatement |
The queen shall never bow down; last bowl of the day and I thought "Thou shall try some atap chee and crunch chocolate" Last bowl was basically filled with the same old flavours, except the cempedak flavour. I'm a big fan of cempedak but this ice cream tasted really REALLY fake- me no likey.

Last bowl and it's a KO |
After that night, I sweared I would not touch ice cream for a month, but guess who's having some ice cream cravings right now?? Looks like I'm destine to be a fat :S
