Dine Like A Queen in JB :)

Went JB with mummy the other day as she needed to run some errands. I love accompanying mum to JB as mum's generous and gets me whatever I wanna eat. 1st stop, Secret Recipe. Each time we head to JB we would return with boxes and boxes of cheesecakes. It's a must to buy cheesecakes from Secret Recipe as it's literally half the price you'll get in Singapore (now slightly more than half due to the exchange rate).

I had the honour of choosing the flavours: Creme Brûlée Cheesecake, New York Cheesecake, Marbled Cheesecake, Oreo Cheesecake and White chocolate Cheesecake. I tried their NY, Marbled and Oreo Cheesecakes a dozen times but these are the classics and Jo likes them hence the purchase. I've yet to try the Creme Brûlée Cheesecake and I'm glad I did as I now I know I would never order it again. Apart from the soggy base, the cheesecake was way too eggy for my liking and essentially didn't have any Brûlée elements in it. Was I too naive to expect a brûlée top?

The White Chocolate Cheesecake, on the other hand, was delightful. This cheesecake showed some great Yin-Yang balance, the sweet white chocolate complemented its bitter dark chocolate counterpart really well. I also loved the crunchy oreo base at the bottom- YUMS...

The queen needed some coffee to go along with her cakes and hence she got herself a dose of caramel Macchiato from Coffee Bean. Although Coffee Bean's pricing was somewhat similar to Singapore's, I got to enjoy 20% discount thanks to Mum's Citibank card. And guess who returned with a box of carrot cake along side the coffee?

Unfortunately, the carrot cake wasn't all that great. It was a tad too dry and way too sweet albeit there were nice chunks of pineapples and a good amount of raisins and walnuts. The cream cheese frosting was also way too sweet for my liking.

So there I was, a happy girl, munching away in the car while mum ran her errands. When she was done, we headed over to the weekly Pasar Malam to buy fruits. According to Mum, the fruits sold during Pasar Malam are cheap and good. I took a walk down the entire strip and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of things sold. They basically sell anything and everything here! From hair clips to raw fish, from freshly made Dim Sum to roast chicken, from chendol to vegetables... you name it, they have it! I was soooo tempted to get the freshly made Min Jiang Kueh (peanut pancakes) but I was way too full from all the cakes and coffee.

I was glad I tagged along, I didn't know Malaysia's Pasar Malam was that exciting! Till then XOXO
