Yes Swee Choon converted me; from a non Dim Sum lover to a Dim Sum lover; from a non Swee Choon fan to a Swee Choon fan. I had such a great dinner the previous time round, so much so I had to drag the siblings there to try.
I knew there was gonna be a long queue as we were heading over on a Sunday at 7+, however I was pleasantly surprised to find that we are able to get seats outside. We initially found available seats at the back alley (behind the store) but Jie managed to chope available seats at the side of the store (which was better as there were fans and it was brighter. As I was considered "the veteran", I ordered some of my favorites, hoping it would wow both Jie and Jo.
Jo loved the thousand layer pancakes but Jie didn't quite like it; she basically hates pancake/ kueh-liked stuff. Pancakes tasted as amazing as the first time round, stuffed with tons of pork floss and an egg omelette, yums :)

It is not until Tata told me they do steam the carrot cake, on special request, did I order a steamed carrot cake. Honestly, and I can't believe I'm saying this, the fried carrot cake tasted better than the steamed one. However, the steam one ain't bad either. I loved its chewy and soft texture! Generous portion for $1.80.

I had to order Liu Sha Bao, it's a no brainer. We ordered 2 baskets of these (it comes in 3) as everybody needed seconds. Jie loved while Jo said he preferred the one at Mandarin Court. What?! Seriously bro, you've got no taste.

Liu Sha Bao @ $3.30 a basket |
As we didn't wanna order the same old Har Gao and Siew Mai, we ordered some staples instead. The Hor Fun with Shrimp was pretty average, tasted like any other hor fun you would get from a Tse char stall; Wok Hei taste was there but that's about it.

Hor Fun with Shrimp @ 5.50 |
I was dying to try the La Mian and thankfully Jie agreed to share with me. We ordered the Sze Chuan Dan Dan La Mian which was essentially a fusion between Ma La and Dan Dan Mian. The La Mian was AWESOME! Swee Choon nailed it! The noodles were aw-so chewy, springy and cooked till al dente. The Sze Chuan Dan Dan broth was magnificent! Loved loved loved the taste of peanut and spice, I was literally felt like licking the bowl, if it wasn't for the remnant of chilli oil.

Jie and Jo had the Xiao Long Baos and they said it was good but not as great as Din Tai Fung's.

Xiao Long Baos @ $4 |
One look at their egg tarts and we immediately regretted our purchase. However, we were indeed to quick to judge as the egg tarts were surprisingly good. The puff pastry was incredibly crispy & flaky; and the egg custard was smooth and not too sweet. We were all caught by surprise and swore we would never underestimate an ugly egg tart ever again.

Egg Tarts @ $3.00 |
Jo and I also shared a Sesame Pumpkin Red Bean Pancake which was really delicious. I loved the chewy texture of the Sesame Pumpkin pancake albeit it was a tad too oily and sinful for my liking. Maybe I would ask for steam versions of this the next time round :)

Sesame Pumpkin Red Bean Pancakes @ $ 1.80 for 4 half slices. |
Lastly, the Orh Ni. I told Jie she had to try this as she's a great Yam Paste Fan. Unfortunately, that day's Yam Paste wasn't that well executed. I felt that it was kinda over cooked and had a really rough texture. Jie didn't quite like it as it was too dry. It's a pity though as my Yam Paste from the previous visit was excellent.

Yam Paste @ $3.80 |
All in all, we spent a total of $44.40, which is incredibly worth it considering the amount of food we ordered. I reckon there will be a 3rd time and 4th time for Swee Choon, hopefully they wont disappoint :)
