Antoinette @ Palais- Dining At The Gardens

Antoinette is known for their pretty Victorian-like ambience and it is not surprising to find their latest outlet following suit. Unlike their sister outlets at Penhas and Mandarin Gallery, Antoinette @ Palais had an open concept. With potted trees and draping flowers, diners can't help but feel like they are dining at the gardens.

I was really relieved they allowed reservations here as hell no was I going to wait 1 over hour for my seats (which was why I da-bao-ed cakes during my last visit at Antoinette). I was really excited to try their mains as I've read pretty good reviews on some of them. I sort of had my eyes on the Gnocchi which are a type of italian dumplings. I had my virgin Gnocchi experience at Prego about a year ago and it has left me craving for Gnocchi ever since.

Antoinette's Gnocchi Carbonara was suppose to be served with bacon but I asked for their mushroom rendition instead as bacon and I aren't good friends. I thought their Gnocchi Carbonara was really fragrant. I love how they panfried the gnocchi producing this crisp yet soft italian dumplings. As I'm not a person who feels jelak easily, I found this Carbonara perfect. It's uber creamy and cheesy; the poached egg on top just sealed the deal. The Gnocchi Carbonara would definitely taste better with bacon but I thought the mushroom added a nice earthy flavour to it. Although this is a nice dish, I still preferred Prego's Gnocchi to this as it's way chewier.

Next up, Val's Mushroom Carbonara Spaghetti tasted similar to mine. The pasta was al dente and was really fragrant as well.

We ordered a mushroom soup to share. The mushroom soup was nice, had a generous amount of mushroom bits but I wouldn't say it's the best mushroom soup Ive had. I liked the bread that came with it though; crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.

All their cakes were looking so pretty and irresistible; we settled for Le Royale which was dense and uber chocolately. It sort of tasted like FFT's Chocolate Hazelnut cake though; or rather they had the same components as any other atas chocolate layered cake: sponge, ganache, mousse and crisp.

I thought Antoinette's Mont Blanc owned Flor's (I know many would beg to differ). I somehow found it really delectable. It was a little sweet but really paired well with the nice crunchy tart (which might have been the winning factor) and mildy sweet vanilla cream chantilly. Like Flor's, I would appreciate a stronger chestnut flavour.

Overall, Antoinette @ Palais is an incredibly romantic place for dates. Pricewise, Antoinette might be is a little steep but it definitely warrants a dine in when a special occasion calls for it.
