Happy Daddy's Day to all those Dads out there- I know i'm a little late but hey, everyday should be a daddy's day right? I've always been close to my mum but only recently, more so with my Dad. I reckon that's because my Dad is always busy working and supporting the family so much so he doesn't really spend much time with us. Sometimes what we see aint what we really see, and I guess I did take my dad for granted in that sense but anyway I think it's still not too late to say a great..
"Happy Fathers' Day Daddy! Thanks for all the hardship, blood, sweat and tears. It's not only when I'm out in society, working my ass and climbing the aw-so cliche corporate ladder, did I realise how badly you have suffered. I hope retirement finds you well and that I'll be able to support you in years to come :)"
We wanted to head over to somewhere nice for dinner but most of the places are either fully booked or super ex (can't use discount on fathers' day) hence we settled for Kuru Kuru. If I'm not mistaken, our first time at Kuru Kuru was in year 2006ish and we were about the only ones there. Fast forward to 2012, it was jammed packed with people and thankfully we made booking.
I was there early as I just finished work at Great World. The fams said they will be reaching soon and so I ordered a few dishes hoping the food would come just when they arrive. Kuru Kuru has a large variety of items, ranging from the usual handrolls and sashimi to pasta and pizza. It definitely ain't of fantastic quality but the variety makes up for it.

The sashimi was decent, but then again I kinda suck at differentiating a good fish from a bad one. If you want free flow of good sashimi, go to Ikoi. It's by far the best! However, you must make a reservation like way way in advance.
Anyway Kuru Kuru CRM is pretty consistent and would often message promo SMS-es to my dad and mum. The sms entitled us to free flow of drinks and 1 serving dessert each. The drinks came in cute little jugs like the one below- nice!

Their Avocado and Cheese maki was pretty good, albeit rice is on the mushy side. Chawanmushi was like any other smooth egg curd.

The shishamo was pretty good and the grilled mushroom was something different.

This pasta used to be good but that night's pasta dish was just horrible. The mentaiko sauce was super watery and the pasta was way overcooked. From what I can recall, this pasta dish was one of the dishes which drawed me to kuru kuru.

The salmon cheese maki pales in comparison to its cousin- the avocado cheese maki. The salmon was mushy and bland. The cheese baked scallop was ok, slightly on the bland side though.

The teriyaki chicken was tasty and I like how the meat was lean yet juicy. Edamame could use more salt like the cheese baked scallop.

The Takoyaki is awful, it was deep fried and doesn't taste like takoyaki at all. Save your calories for the yummy curry udon instead; anything with Japanese curry is good. :)

This was the only handroll my stomach could hold as it is worth the space. I think it was called Kuru Kuru Handroll the previous time I was there but somehow they changed it to cheese and avocado handroll. Nonetheless it's still as good!

On to my favourite part of the buffet: dessert! I thought the black sesame ice cream was a little too icy for my liking, anybody knows of any good black sesame ice cream?

The Green Tea ice cream is awesome as usual but I thought the red bean paste was alittle 画蛇添足。

The green tea mochi was soft and delicious, a pity the filling kinda ruined it as it was too creamy and artificial tasting. The so called pancakes were pancakes at all and tasted like sponge cake stuffed with red bean.

The star of the night would have to be the sakura mochi. This mochi was superbly soft, chewy and yummy! I love how the red bean wasn't too sweet. Damn, they should have free flow sakura mochi :(

Some camwhoring during and after dinner. I think all of us pretty much look the same, except bro. Bro look much better now, less sua ku lol. Jie's complexion definitely improved and both mum & dad looked like they have been preserved: not a single sign of aging!!
