Had Ma Maison with my folks last Thursday. They were uber sweet and came to support their darling daughter :) hence I thought it would be nice if I brought them to Ma Maison.

I thought Ma Maison was really nicely decorated: lovely wooden chairs and tables, nice grid windows with printed curtains giving a really cosy cottage feel. My only qualms would be the lighting; I kinda don't really like eating in dimmed places.
I was famished and simply glanced at the menu before ordering whichever that seemed decent. Dad went to replace his parking coupon and so I ordered a Beef Stroganoff for him. The Beef Stroganoff was pretty good. I like how it wasn't too salty and had loads of sliced beef (not fats, mind you) in 1 serving. I absolutely love the omu in the omu-rice, cooked to perfection.

Mum ordered the Squid Ink Spaghetti and it was superb. The pasta was cooked till al dente and the squid ink was extremely flavourful. I really don't know what they did to the squid ink but it tasted extremely delicious. This is definitely a must try for those who love Squid Ink.

Upon the waitress recommendation, I ordered the Scallop and Prawn Gratin. For the record, this dish actually made me wiki "Gratin". Initially, I thought Gratin would resemble something like a risotto, thinking that the word Gratin was similar to grains. I couldn't have been more wrong. For those of you who are equally clueless at french cuisine, Gratin is actually a culinary technique in food preparation in which an ingredient is topped with a browned crust. Ohh... No wonder, I thought I saw risotto passing off as Gratin before.
The Gratin at Ma Maison is beyond words. Ok, on hindsight, maybe I was just extremely famished as how can all 3 dishes be so fanta-bulous? This gratin was filled with seafood, bits of chicken and Conchigliette look alike pasta, slathered with creamy thick sauce and baked to perfection. Do give it a try when you're there. In my humble opinion, this is mind-blowingly awesome.

A little bird told me the tarts at Ma Maison is good and hence I couldn't leave Ma Maison without ordering a tart. Once again, I heeded the advice of the waitress (albeit another one) and ordered the strawberry tart- their bestseller. After my first bite, the first thing that ran through my mind was, "Are you sure this is the best seller?" The Strawberries were super sour and had to be eaten together with the tart. Honestly, I think fruit paradise's tart is soooo much better. The mains outshone the desserts, I would definitely head back for more mind blowing gratin.
