Went to 2Day 1Night Soju Bang with Christa last Monday. Tata was finally back from her exchange in USA and boy we had loads to talk about! We arrived at 2D1N and was torn between going for the buffet and having the Ala carte. I opted for the latter as I didn't really like eating meat and tata compromised :)
We were pretty shocked by the price of the food served as everything was priced up a notch as compared to other Korean restaurants and hence, our dilemma as to whether we should have the buffet or ala carte. In the end, I settled for the Jajang Myeon and Tata ordered a grilled Mackerel for herself.
The Banchan was served within minutes after ordering and they were yummeh! Both Tata and myself loved the sweet potato; it was roasted to perfection and was really tender and sweet. The Tofu was done pretty well too! The salty slightly spicy sauce complemented the silky but bland tofu really well. I'm not really a Kimchi nor fruit salad fan, thus it's difficult for me to comment on the rest of the dishes.

My Jajang Myeon arrived first and OMG it really lived up to its name "Big plate black bean paste noodles", this can feed an army man. Just when we were about to tuck into the noodles, a lady (who looked korean) came by, took the scissors and started snipping the noodles for us. I really appreciated her service but I thought she was a little too agressive and frankly I was stunned at how aggressively meticulous she was. Back to the noodles, I liked how it is different from other JJM as they added seafood into the noodles. Taste wise, this is comparable to Togi. 2D1N's rendition is less salty but still as tasty and I just might have a new solution to my recurring JJM cravings. The picture doesn't do the JJM justice as it is much bigger than what it looks below.

Tata's Mackerel came next and like its counterpart it was huge. I seldom eat Mackerel at Korean Restaurants as I'm afraid it will be too much of a hassle removing the bones. However, I was pleasantly surprised as this mackerel of theirs had minimal bones, in fact, the bones were crunchy and edible. The Mackerel was really crispy and fresh which made me doubt it was grilled. Nonetheless, it was yummy too.

After 1 hour of eating and sharing 1 year of our life stories (yes that's roughly how long we never met), we were still left with almost 1/3 of the noodles left. 1/2 of the fish was untouched too and hence we decided to packed them home.

Can you believe this? this is 1/3 of the JJM served. |
Now onto the service. I must compliment the waitress who took our orders and packed the food for us. She was really nice and friendly. However, the Korean looking lady was just down right aggressive. We kinda asked for more helpings of sweet potato (cos it was awesome!) and she rejected us the 3rd time round. I wasn't pissed at the fact that she rejected us, I was kinda upset at the way she said it. "No more alr, last one!" I mean, can't you put it in a nicer way lady?
Nonetheless, I will still head back to 2D1N as the rest of the staff are nice and the food is good. However, I would definitely return with more friends as the amount of food served is outrageous!

Da bao-ed noodles heated up for lunch the very next day |
P.S I heated up the noodles the following day and it didn't taste as good as the noodles were all mushy and soft. Therefore, my advice is bring as many friends as you can to 2D1N and finish up every single bit.
