Nara Thai @ Ion Orchard

If there is one cuisine I could choose to master, that would be Thai food or Indian food.. whichever provides me with free lessons first. Thai food looks simple, sounds simple but is freaking complex. Every ingredient, every condiment, every spice, plays a role in the development of the entire dish. From the chunky chicken pieces to the stem of lemon grass; all coming together to form a perfect dish. I mean, which cuisine interplays at least three or up to four fundamental taste senses in one single dish?!?

Oh, but Thai food is the epitome of "good things come in small packages". WHY SUCH SMALL SERVINGS?!?! I guess thats how the Thais remain so slim and hot.

Anyways.. all the rarr rarr about Nara Thai, being one of the best Thai Food in Spore, made Jie and I wanna check it out. Okk..to be frank, it was the lack of queue which attracted us. I mean,  #firsttimeever #Fridaynight, and there wasn't a queue at Nara Thai?!?! #itsourluckyday

So we called a few dishes to share. If you know me well enough, you'll know that I have an extreme fettish for Pad Thai and Green Curry. So having a Pad Thai was kinda a no brainer. I thought the Pad Thai was ok; decent but not mind blowingly good. Portion sizes are the same as what other Thai Restaurants would serve so I guess I can't complain much. However, I would have gone for the Pad Thai served at Millenia Walk Food court anytime, $5 only and twice the portion!

Pad Thai at $15.90
Jie wanted the clear Tom Yum soup. They had another Tom Yum dish which was the red one with noodles. On hind sight, I thought that would have been more value for money. The Tom Yum Soup was acidic enough but tasted rather bland. It came with a couple of mushroom and small pieces of meat, together with 2 prawns. Not quite worth $15.90 I would say.
Tom Yum Soup @$19.90
The Waitress recommended their best seller, soft shell yellow curry, but we both didn't quite fancy Soft Shell Crab and so we chose the Red Curry instead. The curry portion was really small and had approx only 4 cubes of beef. Red curry was good, flavourful and thick but where's the meat?!?
Beef Red Curry @ $15.90
Despite having pretty Thai waitress and attentive & polite service, Nara Thai's food doesn't quite match up to its price. I guess I would be satisfying my cravings elsewhere instead.
