This is a long overdue post of my trip to HK last year albeit here it goes...
Day 3 started with us dining at 85 degrees C for breakfast. This is my go to bread shop back in Shanghai days! They serve awesome bread and kick ass coffee at affordable prices!
Poor CL doesn't take bread but everybody accomodated demanding me :D Honestly I can't remember what were the breads we had but I swear they were all good.. except for the cheese rose bread. I suppose the weird name should have put me off.
After an awesome breakfast we headed to Tung Chong Station to take a cable car to Ngong Ping Village.

I was still pretty full form the bread but the guys and Junjun shared some fried ball (which was grossly deep fried in re-use oil).
They also shared a Tau Huay which according to TH it was the bestest smoothest Tau Huay ever.
I couldn't resist not having Black Sesame, decided to give it a try and regret my decision straight away, I conclude, when in HK stick to milk pudding/ steam milk; likewise when in HK stick to milk tea... their cha chan tang kopi sucks real bad.
CL being greedy CL ordered a bowl of noodles with egg and luncheon meat. Honestly, this can be so easily replicated at home.
Next up, Ngong Ping Village. Thanks to the guys, we had to wait almost an hour to board the bus to Ngong Ping Village. On hind sight, there's really nth much to do at Ngong Ping Village besides eating and soaking up the villagey atmosphere. Oh, we had this coloured popsicle while waiting for our bus.
We were greeted with a huge pot of curry fishball, upon reaching Ngong Ping Village. These balls are SO DARN GOOD! I swear! The curry was flavourful, rich and spicy! They were so good, I had three balls in total!
Next to the curry fish balls, were the kick ass huge ass sotong. I swear I've never seen such kick ass sotong in my 25 years of life. The Sotong was good, tender yet chewy and nicely flavoured.
I spotted some kueh on the way and decided to munch on these too. These are like rice cakes, the peanut one was really good! Imagine muah chee but with extra chewiness to it.
After Ngong Ping Village, we headed back to Tai Chung Station and shopped awhile at the outlet mall. Didn't really manage to buy much other than a pair of awesome timberland shoes!
The guys promise us ladies shopping and so we headed to Nu Ren Jie. Had lunch/ tea time omg I can't even count how many meals we had that day We spotted a few locals in this small joint and so we thought "why not?!" I guess the noodles were ok but, lesson learnt "sometimes locals don't eat the best stuff too".
I shared this bowl of beef noodle with Junjun and it was bleah..beef was abundant but really bland.
The guy's fishball/ wanton noodles were equally bland too.
Dissatisfied with our noodles, we had to end not quite sure whether that's counted as the end with a sweet note. HUI LAU SHAN! Heard loads about it and so we got the mixed berry ice blended and Watermelon. Watermelon was a rip off as it tasted like overpriced watermelon juice, I liked the mixed berries though.
And yes, guess who was the reigning bargain queen. I don't think I'm as pro as my sis but must say.. haggling in broken cantonese made me look like a fool.
On our way back, we had more snacks. This is a Hong Kong Must Have! If you're heading to Sai Kung District you have to have to have to eat the ji dan zai!

Its really good, fragrant and has that crispy outside yet fluffy interior. The curry balls were good too!

Of course we paused for dinner. We had some Wanton Mee from a random stall and guess what?!? It was the best wanton mee we had thus far! Really good broth, not too salty nor oily. noodles were springy and wanton was really bursting with fresh succulent prawns. A pity, we didn't note down the stall. I will miss you dear anonymous wanton mee.
Ok, I'm not as crazy as the guys so I had a spoonful of wanton mee and my very own dessert! It was a crazy cold night and so I ordered a bowl of comforting Osmanthus Ginger Soup with Lotus Seeds and Glutinous Rice Ball. The combination was alil difficult to get use to at first but it kinda grew on me. The Osmanthus added a weridly nice/ nicely weird touch to the ginger soup. Glutinous Rice ball was normal, though I didn't quite like the overly sweet black sesame filling.
Junjun had a unique combi as well, Jelly in steam milk with honey sea coconut and some seaweed.
After a back-breaking-leg-aching walk, we finally reached the Victoria Harbour! Managed to catch the Symphny of Lights show.
I thought the show was pretty interesting but it would have been better if the lights coordinated with the music.
We goofed around with the "stars" or rather than foot/hand print before heading back to the hotel. Those crazy maggi mee lovers loaded their baskets with Chu Qian Yi Ding Instant Noodles, while I loaded mine with instant Tau Huay! The Bai Fu Tau Huay came in 3 flavours (black sesame, ginger and original). Black sesame was pretty unique but alil too sweet for my liking; I wished there was more black sesame taste to it too. The ginger Tau Huay was really good, I would also love for more flavour.
The trios and their instant noodles, tsk tsk. They swear by Chu Qian Yi Ding; I'm not a fan of instant noodles and so I can't comment.
