Quan Xin Yuan @ Jalan Besar

Quan Xin Yuan is ranked one of my  favourite Chinese restaurant! I'm not a Chinese food lover so for me to blog about Quan Xin Yuan, their food has to be THAT awesome.

I've been to Quan Xin Yuan a total of 3 times and I would have to say hey serve the best Pork liver dish EVER. The pork liver is cooked to perfection: it's succulent, not grainy covered with sweet spicy sauce.. I'm totally drooling on my laptop right now

Accordingly to CL (who recommended this awesome restaurant to us), they are known for their duck cooked with chest nut; which has to be ordered a day in advance. I've tasted it during one of our visits and it's indeed really good! Braised to perfection and uber flavourful. If you're making an impromptu trip and failed to ordered the chestnut duck, you can try their braised sea cucumber with duck which is equally spectacular.

I love their sambal kang kong! Very extremely flavourful but a tad oily. Another dish CL swears by is their hokkien mee. I find their hokkien mee so so only; not something I would order but wouldn't mind eating it.

Another favourite of mine would have to be their Kong Bak Pau. Ken Li? Kong Ba? those 2 just dont add up. If you know me well enough I shun away from all fatty meat; not because I'm a health freak or wat but just the plain fact that I find meat fat disgusting. So back to QXY's Kong Bak Pau...Well, I would pick the least fatty meat and then pick out all the fats before eating them. What I love about their KBP is not the meat nor the sauce but the white and fluffy soft buns! ITS AMAZINGLY FLUFFY. Pardon the  CAPS but its just SO DARN FLUFFY. I'm starting to think that they added some chemical in there as its fluffiness is mind blastingly addictive. I can eat those buns all day long man (oops that sounded kinda kinky).

Top Left clockwise: Pork Liver, Braised Sea Cucumber with Duck, Kang Kong, Friend Hokkien Mee and Kong Ba pau

So there you have it! The top chinese restaurant in my list. I've tried their other dishes like their Ngoh Hiang Trotter, Prawn Roll, Yam Basket with Scallop, Steam Pomfret (all from the set menu). Those dishes were fine but not in my "must haves". I've yet to try their Yam paste because we're usually stuffed by then.. do let me know how's it if you have!
