I'm not even going to apologize for MIA-ing lol cos I know I might MIA again. I've just been über busy at work and didn't quite have time to post anything.
Anyways, I met up with Eli and Trix a couple of weeks back. I suggest Artichoke as they are kinda my Mediterranean cuisine kaki and I was glad they didn't object.

Overdough/ Artochoke |
Blending into the arty farty community. Overdoughs/ Artichokes looked really quaint and cosy. We were glad we were early as the place was beginning to get really packed- it's highly advisable to make a reservation on weekends friends.
Eli had a Latte which she claimed was really bitter.

Latte @ $4.50 |
Trix had the Smoked Salmon Pancake which comprises of a onion pancake, some smoked salmon, sour cream dukka, chopped eggs and orange blossom honey- sounds good eh? it is! I loved how its both savoury and sweet at the same time. My only complaint was it's pretty small Then again it depends on your appetite as Trix had a difficult time finishing it. HEH I'm starting to think I eat like a man...

Eli had the Full Medamas which is basically a Egyptian Fave Bean stew. The stew was accompanied by some soft boiled eggs and toast. I thought her stew was really heart warming. It's really spicy (not spicy hot but filled with spices). If you love both spices and beans, this is the dish for you!

Full Medamas @ $17 |
I would have ordered the bean stew if it wasn't for the Lamb Shashouka. Don't get me wrong, I was ultra happy with my choice. This is by far the best Shashouka, considering the generous serving of lamb and stew. I'm sorry wild honey, you've lost. I've found my new love...

Lamb Shakshouka @ $25

Just look at those burst-able eggs. There is nothing I can complain about... Meat (checked), flowy eggs (checked), flavour (checked)!! Oh oh the za'atar toast (whatever that is) that came with it is remarkably delicious.

yolks waiting to be burst! |
It would have been really dumb not to order a Mediterranean dessert at Artichoke so we did. I'm sorry, but I would have to say.. the Baklava was F**king sweet. I had to use expletives to describe the extremity of the situation. I thought the Baklava could have been crispier and WAY LESS SWEET but then again I'm pretty sure that would result in a Singapore Baklava and not a traditional one.

Pistachio Baklava @ $5+ |
Truth be told, the snickers tart was what I came for. It wasn't bad but it just didn't quite live up to all the hype. I thought it tasted like snickers on a tart (period). oh ya and guess what.. it's uüber sweet too.

I would totally go back to Artichoke! The service was good, food was excellent, I just have to make a different choice of dessert next time. Banana Caramel Mufifns maybe?

Good food, awesome companion, best weekend ever |
