Chocolate Fantasy @ Riders Cafe

We never knew when we had the car, but when we do we aim far :D

Mum and Dad were out of town that weekend and so Jie and I decided to head over to Rider's Cafe. It was my 3rd attempt at making reservation (note that the 3 attempts were all on separate occasions) and all attempts were futile as all reservation (especially on weekends) have to be made at least a week in advance.

Since we hardly get to use the car, we decided to just go ahead and try our luck. However, luck wasn't quite on our side as we waited 45 mins in the scorching heat. Nonetheless, everything seemed worthwhile, as I feast my eyes and stomach on their famous chocolate cake.

I'm a sucker for chocolate and boy is this cake really really good. As if chocolate cake covered with chewy chocolate ganache frosting wasn't sinful enough, the entire cake was delectably moisten by thick chocolate fudge and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream- omg I'm in heaven already. I can't quite remember how PS cafe chocolate cake taste like but at that point in time, I was pretty sure nothing could beat this.

The chocolate cake + sauce wasn't too sweet, the frosting however was slightly on the sweet side. I felt that the ice cream was definitely necessary, although lime sherbet or something refreshing might have helped the degustation of this chocolate mammoth.

Death by Chocolate Cake @ $12
Jie had to have something proper and savoury for brunch and so she ordered the Pacific Benedict as it seemed different from other brunch outlets. I thought the crab meat were bleah.. nothing too great. In short, the Pacific Benedict was decent but forgettable.

Pacific Benedict @ $16
I bet I was chocolate deprived that week. I ordered a hot mocha to go with my cake but boy was it a mistake. The mocha was good, don't get me wrong, but mocha together with death by chocolate cake... seriously what was I thinking...massive chocolate concussion before death, by the cake.

Mocha @ $4+

Jie was smarter and ordered latte. Really aromatic, rich and yummy.. I stole most of it :)

Ice Latte @ $6+

Will I head back to Rider's Cafe? HELL YA! In fact, I was craving their chocolate cake the very next day!
