Ta Si Xi Dim Sum @ Taman Perling

While on the quest to find the best Liu Sha Bao, I've re-kindled my love for Dim Sum.. or maybe not quite. I mean I still do not like minced pork but I guess I do love stuffing my pau face with paus, chee cheong fun and occasionally some deep-fried artery-clogging goodies.

Went Msia last weekend and nothing beats some steaming hot dim sum for breakfast! Long story cut short, Jie and I were alone for breakfast but I single-handely or should I say mouthfully  finished the following; that's cos poor Jie had stomach upset and could only eat a bowl of pathetic looking porridge.

Located at Taman Perling, Ta Si Xi is a corner shop, boasting a wooden like exterior, serving a wide variety of Dim Sum. Although I prefer having my orders taken manually, I do applaud their effort to bring to you trays and trays of dim sum, almost buffet style. I had the Yam Croquette and I thought they were pretty good. They looked good to start with, even Jie was surprised I order these sinfully looking fried stuff.  The Yam was fried to perfection, it was crispy yet soft in the inside and did not reveal a tinge of oil residue.

Tunnel of death

The pork fillings were pretty good too! There was a nice balance of sweet and salty which complimented the bland yam exterior really well.

I was yearning for Chee Cheong Fun but the their Chee Cheong Fun didn't quite satisfy my cravings. I thought the rice rolls weren't as smooth and was too floury for my liking albeit the sauce was pretty light and refreshing.

Their Shrimp Crystal Dumplings were decent but passable. I thought the filling was tasty but the skin could have been a tad thinner.

Initially, I thought it was such a waste of manpower to have their staff roam around with trays and trays of Dim Sum but this turned out to be a real good ploy to get us to order more. I was stuffed (bear in mind I ate everything you've read so far) but those Crispy looking Sesame Balls looked too good to resist; especially when they are filled with Lotus paste!

The Sesame Balls were pretty good, I loved the texture of the fried glutinous rice though it would have tasted a hell lot better when its freshly fried. The Lotus Paste was kinda on the sweet side, a tinge less sweet would have made this ball perfect.

Nope those droplets aint my drool..
All those for RM 18, I thought it was pretty good. I would definitely head back for more; definitely not alone this time round.
