Got ingredients from L last saturday and he personally delivered it to BITC (for my friends too) and in return I had to hang out with him.... now that sounded pretty fair no? Since Kampong Bahru is kinda near, we decided to chill at Strangers' Reunion: a place I've long wanted to check out.
Parked along Kampong Bahru road, Strangers' Reunion is no stranger to the local cafe scene. Boasting a wooden door, older than my Grandma's, Stranger Reunion was packed! Their narrow walkway and haphazardly placed tables didn't exactly help make the place any more inviting. Nonetheless, their use of dangling modern-looking lamps and mis-matched furnitures did sort of gave them some character.

Thankfully we managed to get a table, after a short wait |
We ordered a Smoked Salmon Sandwich and Carrot Cake to share. I must say, at $9, this sandwich is exorbitant. Yes it's salmon and yes there are tiny capers and pickled cucumbers but gosh, those sandwiches were puny! and pretty much replicable at home. Value aside, I liked how the bread was crispy and well toasted and... that's pretty much it. In short, mediocre sandwich at an extortionate price.

Their carrot cake wasn't any better either. I found the cake a tad on the dry side and could have made do with a thicker layer of frosting in the centre. The texture of the frosting was nice albeit a little too sweet. Overall, I thought it was one of the poorer carrot cake I've eaten definitely not as bad as Kith's though.

I guess with a two time winner at the Singapore National Barista Championship behind the bar, one would expect a good cup of coffee. I had a Flat White and it was pretty good! albeit I did kinda expect a more creative Coffee art.

Flat White @ $4.90 |
L had a Latte which looked like any other Latte.

Overall, I thought Strangers' Reunion was kinda disappointing. I guess I should have researched more and ordered something else; perhaps the chocolate whisky cake instead? (heard good stuff about it). I may pay them a visit again but that's if I can find a chauffeur with a kind soul.
