Ji De Chi- revisited

I'm was so so crazy over Ji De Chi, so much so I dragged the fams over to Liang Seah to try. I've tried the Durian and the Black Sesame Snow Ice and I thought I should give the Chendol Snow Ice a try.

The Chendol Snow Ice was pretty good; it was coconuty and creamy which complimented the toppings really well. My only qualm was its overwhelming amount of gula melaka, I would have preferred less gula as it was kinda sweet towards the end.

I was raving on and on about their Durian Snow Ice and so Mum ordered that and was glad she did. My parents somehow do not particularly enjoy eating durian flavoured stuff as they imagination of how the durian flesh has been processed goes like this:
  • worker uses finger to scrap off durian flesh
  • worker then gets tempted and lick his/her finger
  • worker continues to scrap off remaining durian flesh
But the Durian Snow Ice was so good, I doubt they regretted their decision, albeit Daddy didn't really care for the yoghurt balls.

Our initial order was the Black Sesame, however it tasted rather off (like how unfresh nuts taste like) and we demanded an exchange but the lady in charge was really obnoxious and refused to barge. She kept affirming the fact that it is impossible for frozen items to be spoilt and that we weren't used to the taste of black sesame. It was only after tons of arguing did we get our products exchanged -_- seriously? not used to black sesame? I ate black sesame all my life yoz...

Anyways, the Mocha wasn;t too bad but I thought the Durian and Chendol was better.

The incident that day has definitely made me think twice about patronizing Ji De Chi. However, I'm a sucker for good dessert and might not be able to restrain myself. One thing's for sure, I will not head back to the Liang Seah outlet!

On the same note, had some peanut paste tang yuan at Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert. I thought the peanut paste was a little lumpy and would have preferred a purer and smoother peanut paste. The Tang Yuan were nice! Bursting with rich black sesame paste, I love how the tang yuans and black sesame complimented the peanut paste.
