Met R for Tea the previous weekend and I'm really glad I have ultra comprising friends! Carpenter and Cook has been on my "Cafes to try before I die" list and R actually agreed to meet there despite having dined there before.
Carpenter & Cook |
I was there around 4pm on a Sunday and boy is there business booming! Carpenter & Cook is the baby of 3 young ladies who happen to assume different roles. There's the Carpenter who loves beautiful vintage stuff, the Cook who took the cliché route of graduating from Cordon Bleu and the And who likes alittle of everything.
Located at 19 Lorong Kilat, Carpenter and Cook boast a cosy vintage setting, adorned with lovely cottage-like furnitures and tableware. I was greeted by the And who was sitting outside the cafe. She had this really nonchalant, bo chap attitude which is a little rude but cool at the same time. Anyways, I was lucky enough to get a seat but we had to share our table with 2 other couple which was kinda awkward.
Goodies |
I knew what I wanted and was oogling at the cake display while R decides what to order. I had the Carrot Cake and a Flat White while he had a Lemon Cream Tart and a Fruit Press.
The Carrot Cake was über awesome! Packed with chunks of pineapple, walnut and shredded carrots, C&C's version was ultra moist and delectable; I love how it was moist yet not mushy. Best part of the cake had to be the cream cheese frosting! The cream cheese frosting wasn't too sweet and had a soft creamy texture which went well with the moist cake. My only qualm would be its portion, I can easily gobble down 2 of those tiny little cakes man. Honestly, I think this carrot cake owns Cedele, especially so, after my unsatisfying experience with Tata.
White Rabbit's Carrot Cake @ $7 |
Lemon Cream Tart @ $6.20 |
Flat White @ $4.80 |
