E-sarn Thai @ Thomson Ridge

I've never ever taken notice of this little corner restaurant along Thomson Road, not until I stumbled upon a blog post about their food. I vaguely told Dad about it and I was glad he suggested E-sarn Thai food for lunch as their dishes were pretty awesome. They had set meals going at $7.80; their meals include drinks and a 20% discount on any dessert on their menu. As compared to Jai Thai, E-sarn is definitely more expensive. However, I think their dishes well justifies the price they are charging.

Daddy did the ordering and boy was he greedy. We had the Tom Yum soup which was pretty delightful. It had just the right amount of spice and wasn't too sour, just the way we liked our Tom Yum.. YUMS...

Tom Yum @ $8.50
Green Curry is one of the must orders whenever we dine in a Thai Restaurant and so Daddy ordered a bowl of Green curry Chicken. The green curry was packed with loads of eggplant and chicken but it somehow lacked that oomph factor Jai Thai's had. I thought it was decent but ain't fantastic.

Green Curry Chicken @ $13.50
We also had their Basil Chicken which was a tad too dry, it did have some essence of Basil but I wished there was more basil flavour to it.

Basil Chicken @ $11.50
Daddy can totally read my mind and knew I had to have Pad Thai in Thai Restaurant. I'm glad Daddy ordered Pad Thai as E-sarn's beef version was incredibly delicious! The Pad Thai had the perfect combination of sweet, salty and tangy. Served with loads of sliced beef, this is definitely a must order if you are a Pad Thai fan like me :)

Pad Thai @ $8.50

I swore Daddy was either really hungry or greedy as we ordered a bowl of beef noodle soup despite having already ordered tons of food. The beef broth was filled with flavour and was with loaded with a generous portion of assorted beef cuts I would have a chewier rice noodles to go with the broth though but that's just my personal preference.

Beef Noodle Soup @ $8.50
As if we weren't already stuffed, we ordered 2 plates of dessert  =P Their serving of Mango Sticky Rice was as puny as other Thai Restaurants'. I thought the Mango sticky rice was passable, definitely better than Jai Thai @ Purvis but ain't good enough to challenge the ones I had in BKK.

Mango Sticky Rice @ $6
Mum wanted to eat try their Tapioca dessert and I think we agreed that their E-Sarn's Tapioca dessert is awesome! It was unusually chewy and blended really well with the coconut. My only complaint would be that it's a tad too sweet. If you dislike overly sweet stuff, do ask them to go easy on the sugar syrup.

Tapioca Dessert @ $4
Definitely heading back for more Thai Delights in E-sarn Thai! Till then, พบกันไหม่! :)
