Soufflé is a lightly baked cake made with egg yolks and egg whites; it sorta means "puff up" in French. However, to me it taste like sweetened shaving cream, not that I've tasted one before though.
Cold Set Soufflé |
We started our Soufflé extravaganza with Cold set Soufflé, which essentially resembles a sorta gelatinize ice cream. I honestly prefer the Cold set Soufflé as it is less airy and tasted more like a light mousse than a pillowy textured shaving cream; although the former is much more tedious to make.
We started off by making the custard and adding gelatine to it, next we folded in the whipped cream and egg whites before filling our ramekins. Whoever created the cold Soufflé dish is remarkably creative; who would have though of using a cake side strip as a mould for the evenly alleviated "collar"?
Usually dusted with cocoa powder or icing sugar, the cold set Soufflé is served after allowing it to set in the freezer for at least an hour. I on the other hand prefer to eat it well frozen as it taste kinda sorta almost like a dense ice cream...yums :)
