12 Inch Pizza @ V Hotel

Had dinner with IJ babes the other day at 12 inch Pizza & Records, which is a part of the Timbre group. Cassy arrived early and I reckoned she was the only one as she whats app-ed me whether it was open. I was surprised that it was rather empty for a Thursday night; more so as it's located in a hotel.

I was a little disappointed that there were only outdoor seatings that night as they were undergoing some construction. However, the companion and the innovative menu cheered me up; I also liked how the dishes were named after greatest hits.

My good mood was short-lived when I found out they have this ridiculous policy of serving water only when at least 1 guest orders a drink. I really don't understand why some restaurants do not serve water; I mean just on the tap and pour out water for god's sake!

We weren't that hungry and so we ordered the Penne Meatball and a half & half pizza to share.  The Penne Meatball was passable; the pomodoro sauce was pretty flavourful but the meatballs were just downright soggy and gross. (pardon the lousy pictures, dim lit places are a nuisance)

Timbre's Roasted Duck with Hoisin Sauce pizza is da bomb and so we decided to pair that with Goodfellas: shrimps, garlic butter, curry leave sauce, crispy egg and cereals. Somehow the pizza seemed bigger than 12 inch and boy was my appetite lifted, upon the arrival of the pizza. I like how they cut the pizza into squares; which makes it much easier to share.

The Roasted Duck Pizza really lived up to its name. Nice chunks of duck drizzled with sweet Hoisin sauce and topped with crispy popiah skin, need I say more? This pizza is wayyyyyy better than the one we had at 15 minutes. Unfortunately, the Goodfellas weren't as good as it's name suggested. The egg & cereal toppings were really soggy; which somehow made the other half taste spongy and bland.

Half and Half @ $24
Despite having more misses than hits and the absurd water policy, I foresee myself returning for my duck pizza and their other innovative creations. Oh did I mention I saw a rat scrambling out at the corner? sure hope there will not be any rat meat pizza concoction.
