Keng Eng Kee Seafood @ Alexandra

It's nice how my mum and my aunt try to organize a get together once in awhile. My mum would occasionally cook up a sumptuous meal and invite my aunt's family over for dinner. This time round, we decided to head out as Pops was in town. We went to Keng Eng Kee Seafood, highly recommended by my aunt.

Tucked inside Alexandra Village, amidst the motor workshop, we were glad they had an air conditioned area. As aunt was late, jie and myself popped over to Alexandra Village Hawker Centre for some avocado love. We've been popping by (especially when Jie comes to fetch me from baking classes) ever since Jie recommended this awesome place. Mr Avocado serves up one hella Avocado Milkshake; aw-so creamy, smooth and milky.. YUMMEH! My only qualm would be its a little too sweet. However, since its pre mixed they can't really reduce the sweetness. Despite the goodness of avocado, I'm pretty sure this ain't the healthiest drink but it definitely beats having an ice cream for dessert :)

Guess who arrived when we returned? Aunt did the ordering and the food came pretty soon. First dish to arrive was their famous Ming Zhu Roll. Frankly, I didn't even know this was their signature dish, not until I googled. Their Ming Zhu Roll is essentially a deep fried combination of prawn, mushrooms, slated egg yolk, ham, parsley all snugged tightly into a Tau Pok. I was a little hesitant to try as you know how much I "like" deep fried stuff. I shared half a roll with Jo and I thought it tasted like any other fried roll but I have to admit it's fried pretty well: crispy yet not oily.

The Coffee Sparerib was next to arrive. My friend labelled me as his halal friend as I don't quite fancy eating pork but I guess Coffee Sparerib is an exception :) It smelt soooo good and tasted pretty good. Jo preferred Paradise Inn's but I thought this was pretty good and could give Paradise's a tough fight.

Aunt ordered 2 typed of crab: the Chilli Crab and the Salted Egg yolk Crab. I thought the latter was better. The salted egg yolk was really creamy and had the right ratio fo both salty and sweet.

The chilli crab, on the other hand, was alittle bland and not as flavourful as the one I had in Jumbo. As I'm not a crab fan, imma only gonna comment on the sauce lol. Oh!! their Man Tou is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! I kid you not! It's huge and super fluffy yet chewy, best Man Tou I EVER had, true story. I would have taken pictures of it but I was too busy gobbling.

We also had some fried vegetable and fish, besides the above. However, it was tough taking pictures when you're among a hungry crowd. The veggie and fish was forgettable though so you're not missing out on anything.

I guess Keng Eng Kee does serve decent Tse Char, don't really know about the price as it was Aunt's treat but I reckon it's pretty reasonable. I would definitely come back for their Man Tou and perhaps try out their noodle dishes.
