Mothers' Day Dinner @ Da Paolo Bistro Bar

I know all other bloggers' Mothers' Day posts are out and I'm kinda slow but just to share what we did for our mother's Mothers' Day.We head over to Da Paolo Bistro Bar as my Dad got tired of my constant nagging. "Dad, Da Paolo is nice" X 10000000 and that's what it took to move my Dad!

We arrived at Rochester Park and I was really intrigued by the whole place; it felt like another Dempsey! Thank God Buona Vista MRT is just 10 minutes walk away! It was almost 7.30pm but we were still one of the 1st few seated, weird... The waitress was pretty nice and gave her recommendations, though we only heeded her pizza choice. I ordered the Saffron Risotto with Veal Shank, Jie listened to the waitress and got herself a Mascarpone Cheese with Mushrooms and Black Truffle Pizza and Jo had the Homemade Tagliatelle with Crab.

Jie's Pizza was the 1st to arrive and it looked gorgeous! I loved how crispy and thin the crust was; however, the Mascarpone cheese failed to impress me as it was kinda subtle and light. I think I'm more of a Mozzarella kinda gal. The mushrooms were ok and the black truffles were kinda non existent.

The next one to arrive on our table is my Saffron Risotto. The moment the waiter placed the dish onto the table, we glanced at each other. It's that kinda moment when you know what the rest are thinking and you know they knew what you are thinking. Straight after the waiter left, we burst into laughter. My bro immediately look at me and said "You know what I'm thinking??" Puke looking aside, the Saffron Risotto had a really nice bite to it, though I think it's just a tad too creamy. The veal shank tasted normal and nothing really applaud-able.

The Tagliatelle came shortly after my risotto. Now I had high hopes for this dish as it was mentioned a couple of times on HGW reviews. This dish, as compared to the former, rocked the presentation; I'm just wondering how they are able to maintain this presentation, serving a crab head for every crab tagliatelle. The tagliatelle was really chewy and just what a fresh pasta should taste like! Just as what the other reviews stated, this dish had quite a lot of crab meat. The only downside of this dish is that it gets kinda jelak after awhile but order it and enjoy the first few bites! :)

The highlight of the night would have to be the Tiramisu! I heard how awesome the Tiramisu at Da Paolo is and I was dying to try it! Verdict: It is awesome! The mascarpone cheese filling was smooth and creamy and the lady's finger is nicely soaked in coffee and rum but yet retained its shape. I especially hate those Tiramisu which falls apart and ends up as 1 big lump of bread pudding like substance. Glad I chose the Tiramisu as bro and jie hated it which means... I get to finish the entire thing! Not that the serving is huge though...

Got mum lovely roses from Far East Flora the day after. I'm officially known as the flower girl in the family. Be it Valentines, Mothers' day, Sis grad etc. I would be the one sourcing for flowers at our dear neighborhood florist- Far East Flora. I got these roses for a steal! Some lady approached me and wanted to share the flowers with me, hence I got 20 stalks for just $10  :):):)

20 Stalks for my dearest mummy :)
