LE Cafe

I was gonna collect my name cards from Peace Center and decided to pop over to LE cafe to try their renowned beancurd tart. I've read loads about it and have gotten the thumbs up from Joyce, hence I decided to taste these goodies for myself.

LE Cafe is located at 264 Middle Road, which is just diagonally across Peace Center. I've read a lot about LE Cafe but I never knew it was that close to Peace Center; not until Han's pointed them out.
For those as 路痴 as me
Upon entering, I was greeted by articles after articles of LE Cafe. There were also pictures of the owners with celebrities and magazine write ups pasted all over the shop. I guess if you've got it, you should show it. However, LE cafe could take a chill pill and not overwhelm their store with their "accreditation".

Despite all their wow-ing pictures, nobody bothered to attend to me when I was at the counter. One of their staff even ignored me despite my countless attempts to call out to her. After like 10 minutes, a lady passed by and asked "Did you make booking?" No hi, no may I help you, she just chucked the menu in my face, after I told her I didn't make any reservations. To cut the story short, I ordered a box of mixed beancurd tart and a box of rum balls as I didn't want to come back again, unless their stuff are crazily awesome. While arranging my purchase in the plastic bag, she commented " Next time you better order 1st uh, you lucky today we have, blah blah..." Honestly, I was alil pissed as I kinda expected a thank you after spending like $19+. However, being a sucker for dessert, I put my ego aside and tahan-ed.

Sucky service aside, their beancurd tarts are indeed awesome! It's not too sweet or eggy and had just the right texture. I especially love the biscuit tarts; they are slightly firmer and has a crunch to it.

I had both the gingko white fungus and the original, basically they all taste the same apart from the added ingredients. Take a look at the awesomely thick tart crust, super yummy! I'm ashamed to say I might just bear with all the shit from their staffs just to get these beancurd tarts.
Pardon my teeth markings

Moving on to the Rum balls, I actually opened it and pinched one, immediately after I stepping out of their store. If you're intending to do the same, please heed my advice: DO NOT attempt to put the whole ball in your mouth. Not wanting to appear greedy, I quietly grabbed one and put the whole thing in my mouth and... I almost choked.
Rum balls @ $10.30

The Rum ball tasted more like cake pop, which essentially is made up of cake crumbs glued together by frosting/jam/chocolate/condensed milk etc. I found the Rum balls average as it somehow lacked the taste of Rum and chocolate. Be careful not to let the Rum balls sit around for too long as condensation would take place and you'll be left with cracked mushy Rum balls.

Would I return? Sadly.. Yes lol. Ego can wait, Beancurd tart can... I wouldn't buy the Rum balls though, I reckon I can make better Rum-my cake pops.
