We were woken up by the massive honking of vehicles and the endless barking from the stray dogs. Wow, it's day 2 already! We were suppose to be at the wedding hall at around 7am, however plans changed and we were there at 11am. When we arrived, there was a crowd around the groom, apparently they were performing one of those required rituals. The bride's parents were suppose to stop the groom from becoming a sage and one of the procedures was to wash the groom's feet. IKR! I think my pops will just faint upon seeing this, but I guess washing of the feet has other symbolic significance too.
Oh ya! I forgot to add, we were all dress in indian ethnic wear that day! Look how dashing both Berton and Kent looked!
Wedding Day 5: Afternoon |
Last Meal at the Wedding. |
After the wedding, Kent, Berton, mummy and I went to commercial street to do some shopping. Mum has been awesomely accommodating, accompanying throughout the wedding and so I reciprocated by being her shopping slave for 2 days. Straight after the wedding, we took a ride to commercial street where mum bought more than 20 metres of cloth! Mum went gaga over the materials as the quality was good and the price was cheap. And what was I doing? being her calculator -_-, nonetheless I did not mind as there wasn't anything interesting for me to shop around. Most of the stalls at commercial street sold ethnic clothes and materials and honestly I was bored stiff.
Fast forward to day 3, we headed out to visit some places of attraction after an awesome breakfast at Meena's place. Meena's family were amazing host and invited us over for meals. Coffee was served before breakfast and OH MY the coffee was fantastic. It was so milky yet strong. The breakfast was some wheat cereals that tasted like a fusion of our chinese porrridge and ang moh quaker oats- I loved it! Paired with chutney powder, this dish is sooooo good!
One hella bumpy ride. |
Nando's at Bangalore :) |
Needed more coffee to last through the day so Kent and I hopped over to the Cafe beside for some coffee fix. We both ordered a latte which tasted pretty average; I preferred Meena's home made coffee :)

We headed to Meena's place for, once again, an awesome meal. Dinner was fun as we managed to steal Meena away from Suhas; we talked about everything that happened in USA- the good and the bad. Oh how I missed those days....Those Walmart grocery shopping days where Meena and I would buy loads of grocery and lugged it back to our accommodation. Those potluck days where I would cook sucky can soup while Meena would whip up awesome curry. Those movie nights and free food nights at Coffman Union. Those nights at Kent's, at St Paul's Campus, at cold stone creamery, at chipotle, at downtown etc. We were re-living those days as we talked and talked....
But goodbyes are inevitable and we had to bid her farewell. Despite all the whining about tickets, visa, transport etc, I was glad I made it for Meena's big day. It was an eye opener at Bangalore, farewell Silicon valley of India, may we meet again.
