Saizeriya Ristorante E Caffe @ Toa Payoh Hub

Despite frequenting Toa Payoh Hub, I never knew there was a Saizeriya outlet located above KFC, at least not until last few weeks. I've tried Saizeriya at Liang court a couple of times and thought it was pretty decent, especially for the price they were charging. Hence, Silie and I decided to head over to Saizeriya @ Toa Payoh hub.

He had the mushroom risotto which tasted really bad. The risotto was disappointingly wet and tasted more like mushy porridge than risotto.

Mushroom Risotto
My usual would be the squid ink pasta but having had Squid ink for the past 2 visits, I decided to go for something else this time round. I chose the Genova pasta which tasted something like pesto pasta. Frankly, I don't quite know how to judge this dish as I havent tasted Genova Pasta as of yet. However, this dish looked far better in the menu. The sauce was really diluted and the green beans were way to overcooked. The only saving grace- the al dente pasta.

I read quite a number of reviews on the Margherita Pizza and we ordered it to share. This pizza looked much better than it tasted. I thought the crust was more of a bread than a pizza, really dry and tasted like my mum's (no offense mum).

We wanted to have their chocolate lava cake (promotional item) for dessert, hoping it would redeem Saizeriya's mains. Unfortunately, they ran out of it :( so guess who made a trip back just to have the cake?

I went there again with Jie and thankfully the chocolate cake was available. The chocolate cake tasted MUCH better than chocolate origins. Although the lava was more gooey than flowy, it tasted pretty good. It wasn't too sweet and paired really well with the average tasting, uber sweet vanilla ice cream. For $5.90, I think this is a steal, especially since it beats both Coffee club's and Chocolate Origins.

All in all, Saizeriya @ Toa Payoh Hub lets its sister outlet, at Liang Court, down. The best thing I had that night was their free flow of drinks, no kidding. As we've learnt in primary school, in order for it to be a fair experiment, one must not have more than 1 variable. Hence, I would definitely head back for my usual Squid Ink Pasta and then we shall judge.
